The Charlotte Observer called it "one of the top ten Civil Was sites in the two Carolinas." This nationally recognized museum packs a lot of history into a small space. Impressive displays of Civil War cannon balls, bullets, buttons, buckles, guns, pictures, and thousands of battle artifacts line walls. Loaned items from the Historic Society of Buffalo, New York, the Smithsonian Institute, and others are often displayed here, too. The Museum also has a gift shop with books, prints and many other items of interest to history-minded visitors
